i was sitting next to a girl in a bar and she was a really beautiful one. The kind of girl I would usually hesitate to start a conversation. 

This is when I decided to open the conversation with the push pull method - 

the concept is simple : say something attractive, and immediately pull. “Hey you look really attractive, but you remind me of my bitchy friend”.

I observed that it worked! She was immediately interested in knowing why I would think she’s bitchy, but took the compliment at the same time. This may have created a positive first impression, and she was engaged enough to be in a conversation for a good 10-15m until her friends tried to pull her away. 

Even when I asked her for her number she said she has a boyfriend but would come to this bar often and the next time she’d want to be friends.
